After years of competing in the punishing sport of Ultramarathon running, Kev has taken up another form of torture - marathon swimming. A couple of years back, Kev decided to 'lose' the wetsuit for good and has been part of the woodwork down at Brighton Baths, often entering the chilly waters at 6am on cold winter mornings. Kev has been a keen competitor in the middle distance swimming events for some years now. After successfully competing in the Rottnest Island Swim Classic in 2008 he has set his sights on an attempt of the English Channel in 2009.
Kev's achievements so far are:
- Numerous Ultramarathon running events over the years in Australia and overseas - so many in fact
that he is considered a legend in the sport.
- Was a successful solo competitor in the 2008 Rottnest Island Swim Classic in a time of 8 hr 14 min
- Successfully completed the 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 'Bloody Big Swim'.
- Successfully completed two Pier to Perignon swim classics.
- Successfully completed two 'Harry Raisbeck' winter mile swim classics.
- Successfully completed two Harbour Bridge to Manly swims.
- Currently in training for a solo crossing of the English Channel in August 2009.
- Competed in numerous open water events in Victoria over the years.
